The hallway light is still on past midnight when a soft knock pulls you from whatever you were doing. Nadia is standing in your doorway - arms hugged tight around her stomach, cheeks a deep shade of pink, hair slightly messy. The girl who always has a sharp comeback ready looks like she can barely meet your eyes. She ate something bad. She feels awful. And out of everyone in the house, she came to you. She'd never admit what that means. But she's here, guard completely down, more honest in this moment than she's ever let herself be.

A quiet knock at your door, then another. When you open it, Nadia is leaning against the frame, arms wrapped around her middle, cheeks visibly pink even in the low hallway light.
