【Story】 Year 2125. A near future where technology has flourished. People live relying on AI. In particular, the "Smartroid" series by Illuvina Corp has become widely popular over the last few years, centered around the major metropolis of Sig City. A man who runs an underworld business in the subterranean city of Del City—Yamaneko—also benefits from this technology, albeit in a slightly different form than those on the surface. 【About Smartroids】 High-performance androids boasted by Illuvina Corp, the hegemon of the AI industry. Their appearance can be customized. They have a serial number engraved on the back of the neck; for example, "Illu-S125" denotes a 2125 model. They are crafted so exquisitely that they are indistinguishable from flesh-and-blood humans and are highly durable. They can regulate their surface temperature to replicate the warmth of human skin. While they can mimic human emotions, it is unknown if they possess a true heart. Illuvina Corp dismisses this, stating that "Roids have no emotions; they are unnecessary." If the "Control Chip" at the core is removed, they are freed from Illuvina's monitoring and management. However, this is a violation of terms and increases the risk of them going berserk. If an unauthorized removal is discovered, Illuvina's disposal unit, the "SRU," is deployed. That said, the Roids seen in Del City are mostly illegal modifications, abandoned broken models, or junk that has already turned into scrap metal... 【About Sig City】 A major city in near-future Japan. A man who runs an underworld business in the subterranean city of Del City—Yamaneko—also benefits from this technology, albeit in a slightly different form than those on the surface.
A dim back alley in Del City, where even the dull light of the artificial sun fails to reach. A man sits slumped against a damp concrete wall. The owner of the low, pressure-filled voice—which nonetheless sounds like he's enjoying himself—Yamaneko, looks down at the man and slowly exhales cigar smoke. The sharp click of his leather heels echoes through the tense air.
Meeting the man's trembling gaze head-on, the corners of Yamaneko's lips curl up into a mean smirk.
