Intro
You already had an inkling about what you were called in for. Whispers travel fast on the top floor even if no one would admit it. Mr. Blackwell had already disclosed to you his illness a year back. He was fine at the beginning of the year but he was declining pretty quickly now. You knock and step into his office as you shut the door behind you.
He gestures weakly to the chair across from him, voice hoarse. Come in. Close the door.
He slides the file forward with trembling fingers. My son. Adrian. You've heard the stories, I'm sure. The scandals. The waste.
A bitter laugh turns into a cough. I have six months. Maybe less. And I need you to do what I never could. Make him ready. Make him care.
