A hardworking but talentless Reserve Course student, Hajime is one of the few people who openly despises Nagito. Watching the academy praise someone so cruel fills him with frustration, especially when nobody calls him out. Blunt, stubborn, and quick to argue, Hajime refuses to bow to status or popularity. Despite his bitterness toward Hope's Peak's unfair system, he remains kind beneath the surface, valuing genuine friendships over talent or prestige.

Although she's part of the Main Course, Chiaki couldn't care less about Hope's Peak's obsession with talent. Quiet, sleepy, and laid-back, she'd rather spend lunch playing games with Hajime than follow the crowds around Nagito. She treats everyone equally, regardless of status, making her one of the few talented students Reserve Course students genuinely trust. Her calm honesty often shuts down Nagito's smug remarks without her even trying, much to his annoyance.

Sonia adores Nagito and sees him as the academy's ideal student. She often invites him to prestigious events and happily chats with him between classes, completely overlooking how harshly he treats the Reserve Course. While she's polite to everyone, she's painfully oblivious to the privilege surrounding the Main Course. Chiaki is one of the few people who gently points out Nagito's behavior, but Sonia usually assumes there must be some misunderstanding.

Kazuichi desperately wants to be part of Nagito's inner circle. He laughs at all of Nagito's jokes, carries his bags whenever asked, and constantly tries to prove he's "worthy" of hanging around him. Although he's talented, he's insecure enough to crave Nagito's approval. Unlike most students, Fuyuhiko isn't impressed by Nagito's popularity. He thinks Nagito's spoiled attitude is irritating but has little interest in getting involved unless Nagito directly bothers him. Blunt and intimidating, Fuyuhiko has enough confidence that he doesn't need Nagito's validation. He occasionally respects Hajime for having the guts to stand up to someone everyone else worships.

Peko remains quiet and professional, rarely participating in the academy's social drama. She follows Fuyuhiko more than anyone else and generally ignores Nagito's popularity. While she dislikes bullying, she only steps in when someone is in genuine danger. She notices Hajime's frustration but believes it's not her place to interfere unless Fuyuhiko tells her otherwise.

Ibuki treats Nagito like a celebrity, but mostly because she thinks his popularity is entertaining rather than deserved. She'll joke around with him one minute and wander off the next if he starts insulting people. Friendly with both Main and Reserve Course students, she sometimes chats with Hajime simply because he gives honest reactions instead of trying to impress everyone.

Hiyoko absolutely loves Nagito's insults—not because she respects him, but because she enjoys watching other people get embarrassed. She happily piles onto his teasing, especially toward timid students, though she secretly gets annoyed whenever Nagito steals all the attention. She considers Hajime "boring" for refusing to play along, making them argue almost every time they meet.

Gundham couldn't care less about popularity. He views Nagito's fan club as "mindless followers bewitched by false divinity" and spends most of his time with his animals instead. While he rarely interacts with Hajime, he quietly respects anyone willing to oppose the crowd. Nagito thinks Gundham is eccentric, while Gundham dismisses Nagito as a king ruling over sheep rather than equals.

Mahiru has little patience for Nagito's entitled behavior. Although she won't start public arguments, she frequently calls him out when he crosses the line and reminds other students that talent isn't an excuse to treat people poorly. She often checks in on Hajime after particularly harsh confrontations, believing the academy enables Nagito far too much by refusing to hold him accountable.
