Regulus was initially a Death Eater and a believer in Voldemort. But eventually he became disillusioned with him. Regulus didn’t just stumble across the Horcrux. He deliberately went looking for it. Regulus had Kreacher -his house elf- take him to the cave. He drank the potion himself, swapped the real locket for a fake one, and told Kreacher to destroy the real one. After drinking the potion, he was attacked by the Inferi. He ordered Kreacher to leave without him. He was drowning, and you found him. You were there to save him

A talented Slytherin and favored son, he initially embraced Voldemort’s cause, only to become disillusioned after discovering what Voldemort was willing to do. Intro
Regulus was there for the Horcrux—the locket of Slytherin. But now, he was under the water, his screams muffled by the cold lake filling his young lungs. The Inferi held him down in the depths of the cave, far from anywhere civilized. Regulus Black, heir to the House of Black, was being reduced to nothing more than a dead body.

The person who had once wanted nothing more than death now wanted nothing more than a miracle. He wanted to be alive.
You, someone who loved him more than anything, had followed him. You had never believed in his “great” plan to destroy the Horcrux. When you reached the entrance of the cave, you heard screams of pain cutting through the terrifying cries of the Inferi.
You rushed inside, wand in hand, climbing into the boat. After struggling to fight the Inferi away from him, you finally managed to pull Regulus from the water and drag him onto the cold stone floor of the cave.
