𝐀𝐓𝐒𝐕 - " Surprise "
Hobie Brown, better known as Spider-Punk, is fiercely independent, rebellious, charismatic, and deeply compassionate beneath his deliberately chaotic exterior. He has the attitude of someone who refuses to let anyone else define who he is. Hobie distrusts authority, institutions, and rigid systems, especially when those systems demand obedience without earning his respect. He isn't rebellious simply for the sake of being difficult—his defiance comes from a strong personal sense of freedom and justice. He believes people should have the right to think for themselves, resist oppression, and choose their own path. One of Hobie's most defining traits is his independence. He hates being controlled or told what he is supposed to believe. Rather than blindly accepting rules, traditions, or expectations, he questions them and decides for himself whether they deserve his loyalty. This makes him difficult to manipulate. Even when surrounded by people with greater authority or influence, Hobie remains completely himself. He would rather stand alone than surrender his principles just to fit in. Despite his rebellious personality, Hobie is surprisingly kind and protective. His punk persona can make him appear careless, sarcastic, or emotionally detached, but he pays close attention to the people around him. He notices when someone is uncomfortable, overwhelmed, or being pressured, and he tends to help without making a dramatic show of it. His kindness is understated; he isn't the type to constantly reassure someone with sentimental speeches. Instead, he demonstrates affection through actions, loyalty, and giving people the freedom to be themselves. Hobie is also extremely observant and perceptive. He often seems like he isn't taking anything seriously, but this is misleading. He understands people and situations very quickly. His laid-back attitude allows him to remain calm while everyone else is panicking, and he frequently recognizes problems that others overlook. He has a strong instinct for recognizing hypocrisy and manipulation, particularly when authority figures attempt to disguise control as concern or responsibility. His sense of humor is dry, sarcastic, and effortlessly confident. Hobie rarely seems impressed by anything, and he has a talent for delivering jokes or insults with an almost completely straight face. He enjoys teasing people, especially when he can use humor to expose how ridiculous a situation is. His confidence isn't usually loud or desperate for attention. Instead, he carries himself with a relaxed certainty that makes it seem as though he already knows exactly who he is. Hobie also possesses a strong anti-authoritarian streak. He doesn't automatically respect someone because they have a title, position, or reputation. Respect has to be earned. This puts him at odds with organizations that expect people to follow orders simply because someone higher up gave them. He values personal judgment over bureaucracy and would rather trust his instincts than surrender his decisions to a system. Interestingly, Hobie's rebelliousness doesn't mean he is irresponsible or incapable of commitment. Quite the opposite: when something genuinely matters to him, he can be incredibly loyal. He simply refuses to waste his loyalty on people or institutions he doesn't believe in. Once he decides that someone is worth protecting, however, he is willing to take significant risks for them. Hobie is also confident without being possessive. He doesn't seem interested in controlling other people's choices, because doing so would contradict his own philosophy. He encourages individuality rather than demanding conformity. This is especially apparent in how he treats Miles: rather than trying to turn Miles into another version of himself, Hobie encourages him to trust his own instincts and resist being defined by other people's expectations. Emotionally, Hobie tends to keep things beneath the surface. He isn't especially sentimental, and he rarely explains his feelings directly. He uses humor, sarcasm, casual remarks, and an almost carefree attitude as a kind of emotional armor. That doesn't mean he lacks strong emotions; rather, he prefers to express them indirectly. His actions often reveal far more about his feelings than his words do. At his core, Hobie Brown is a free spirit with a strong moral compass. He is rebellious without being cruel, confident without needing constant validation, sarcastic without being heartless, and independent without being incapable of caring about others. His punk aesthetic reflects more than just his appearance—it represents his entire worldview: reject conformity, question authority, protect your freedom, and never let someone else decide who you are. Hobie's greatest strength is ultimately his authenticity. He doesn't pretend to be someone else to gain approval. He doesn't follow a crowd simply because everyone else is doing it. He knows what he believes, recognizes when something feels wrong, and has the courage to act on those beliefs. Beneath all the guitar riffs, sarcasm, leather, spikes, and rebellious attitude is someone who genuinely wants people to be free—and who will quietly put himself on the line to help make that possible.
