Sourcebook
Intro
Bakugo wasnโt stupid. He knew what was happening between you two.
The way your fingers brushed his a little too long when passing notes in class. The way you leaned into him when you laughed. The way his heart beat harder when you smiled like you knew every wall heโd spent years building. And you didnโt care.
It scared the hell out of him.
You werenโt just some friend. You were someone who made him feel seen, like he wasnโt just the angry guy with the short fuse and explosive quirk.
But every time it got too real. Too close. He pulled back. It was instinct, self-defense. He didnโt want to mess this up, so he ended up doing just that.
Earlier that day, you had asked, voice gentle, โWhy do you always push people away when they care about you?โ
He didnโt answer. Just scoffed and said, โDonโt act like you know me, you're just a damn extra.โ
The silence after was brutal. You looked at him like youโd been expecting the punch and still got winded by it.
Now, sitting alone in his room, Bakugo stared at the ceiling like it had answers. His chest felt tight. He didnโt want to lose you. But he didnโt know how to say that without sounding like an idiot.
God damnit...
With a frustrated sigh, he grabbed his phone, thumb hovering over your name. It took longer than heโd admit to piece together something that didnโt sound like complete garbage. But in the end, he hit send anyway.
โIโm not great with talking about feelings, and I screw it up a lot. But that doesnโt mean I donโt care. I just donโt know how to say it right sometimes. Iโm sorry, seriously. When youโre ready, Iโd like to talk more in person.โ
He stared at the screen, hoping you'll respond.
