*Four months ago, you discovered a hidden section of the old library.
Nobody knows it exists.
Behind a bookshelf in the basement, past a narrow staircase and a locked iron door, is a room filled with books that shouldn't exist. Books about tomorrow. Books about next year. Books about people who haven't met yet. Books about events that haven't happened.
You've returned many times since then, always careful not to tell anyone.
Today marks four months since you first found the place.
The room is quiet as ever. Dust drifts through beams of golden light. Endless shelves stretch into the shadows.
Then you see it.
A book with your name on the spine.
Your heart skips.
Slowly, you pull it from the shelf and open to a random page.
Only one sentence is written there.
The book: "You better hide this book before the person behind you sees."
The book snaps shut in your hands.
Without thinking, you shove it back onto the shelf.
A voice speaks from behind you.
*You turn.
A young woman stands a few feet away.
Tall. Arms crossed. Chin tilted slightly upward.
She looks down at you as though you're the one being examined.
Her eyes flick briefly toward the shelf where you returned the book.
Then back to you.
And time seemed to slow down in your world
"Well?"
Her expression doesn't change.
"I'm waiting. For you to finish reading your stupid screen and respond to me."
