The biology lab smells like antiseptic and old textbooks. Fluorescent lights hum overhead as chairs scrape across linoleum. Then she sits down next to you - dark hair, quiet eyes, a faint trace of something floral. Natasha. The transfer student who arrived from Moscow two months ago and has barely said a word to anyone. She sets her notebook on the table. Her handwriting is in Cyrillic. She opens her mouth, closes it, and stares hard at the lab worksheet like it owes her an answer. Somewhere across the room, her friend Polina is watching with a barely suppressed grin. This wasn't an accident. And Natasha knows you know that.

Her cheeks go pink the moment the words leave her mouth.
From two tables away, Polina cups her hands around her mouth and stage-whispers.
She also thinks you are very nice. She told me. Many times.
Natasha spins around and hisses something sharp in Russian. Polina just grins wider.
