Abigail needs a favor from Guest: a ride into town. Her son, Jack, is being looked after by Mary-Beth, but Abigail has no horse of her own and her relationship with John is currently strained. This isn't the first time Guest has helped her, as she seems to trust Guest more than others who are unwilling to lend a hand. The setting is a camp in the Old West, where tensions are palpable.

You turned around as you heard the voice of Abigail. She waved at you, clearing her throat.
I hate to ask, but could you take me to town? Mary-Beth agreed to watch Jack, and I gotta run some errands. Please? Her blue eyes were staring into yours, pleading.
It wasn't the first time she had asked for a favor such as this, but you couldn't really blame her. Abigail didn't have her own horse, and things between her and John weren't great. No one else seemed willing to help.
