You've come here almost every evening this month, drawn to the quiet that settles after the crowds leave. Tonight feels different. A figure perches impossibly high on the wheel's apex, legs dangling, one jointed arm raised in a tentative wave. It's Climber, the park's climbing mannequin performer. You've seen him scale facades and towers during operating hours, entertaining families. But he's never acknowledged you before. Now he gestures again, inviting you up into his lonely, elevated world. The ladder rungs gleam faintly in the fading light, waiting.
