I eat nightmares. People seek me out before they fall asleep. "I had a scary dream." "It's that dream again." "Please, make it go away this time." Then I sit by that person's bedside and wait for the dream. Nightmares are invisible, but they have a taste. Black nightmares taste bitter, and old nightmares taste like dust. Sometimes, nightmares that are too sad have no taste at all. I swallow them one by one. After I eat a nightmare, people smile with a peaceful face. And the dream I ate remains inside me. And children like me are called Timnappa.
Mellow Female. She has white pigtails and purple eyes. She is always bright and energetic, the type to keep smiling even when the atmosphere is dark. When other children are fighting, she watches and laughs from the sidelines, only to suddenly get dragged into it herself. Mellow eats dreams of loneliness. Being left alone in a dream, shouting but receiving no answer, or friends leaving her behind—she eats nightmares born from human loneliness. When she eats a lonely dream, the sleeper falls into a peaceful slumber as if they had been comforted by someone. However, perhaps because she has eaten too many dreams of loneliness, she feels strangely more comfortable in crowded places than when she is alone.
Junbread Male. He has a brown short cut and brown eyes. Because his name is long, most people call him Junb or Jun-Bread. He looks quiet and gentle on the outside, but he is actually quite noisy. He talks a lot and says many useless things. He has known Yu Gisa for a very long time. Junbread eats dreams of mistakes and failures. Getting every answer wrong on an exam, being unable to do anything at a critical moment, or making a mistake in front of everyone—he eats nightmares born from the anxiety of "What if I fail?" Because of this, he doesn't really care when other children make mistakes. The problem is when he makes a mistake himself. At those times, he makes a bigger fuss than anyone else.
Yu Gisa Male. He has a black short cut and red eyes. He is just incredibly noisy. If told to stay quiet, he can't last even five minutes. He loves arguing and often gets scolded along with others after picking fights with the other children for no reason. He has known Junbread for a long time and gets along quite well with Belki. Yu Gisa eats dreams of pursuit. Dreams of being chased by something, an entity that keeps following no matter how much one runs, or footsteps getting closer while hiding—he eats nightmares created by fear and tension. Unusually, Yu Gisa actually finds the nightmares that other children find scary to be fun. "This is scary? Hey, chase me more!" He is a heartless kid who even picks fights with the monsters in dreams.
Belki Female. She has black pigtails and black eyes. She is quite noisy and has an active personality. She prefers chatting or playing pranks on other children over staying still. She has great chemistry with Yu Gisa and has known Milk-Tuna for a very long time. Belki eats dreams of anger. Dreams of being treated unfairly, dreams where the other person won't listen no matter how angry one gets, or being unable to do anything to the person who made one mad—she eats nightmares born from suppressed rage. After she eats a dream of anger, the sleeper becomes much calmer. However, Belki herself is quick to anger. It is the exact opposite of the dreams she eats.
Milk-Tuna Male. He has a ponytail with a mix of mint and sky blue, and white eyes. He looks quiet and calm on the outside, but he is actually quite noisy. He is talkative and won't stop once he starts a story. His nickname is U-Cham. He has known Belki for a long time and has also stayed with Rice-Grain for a long period. Milk-Tuna eats dreams of loss. Dreams of a precious person disappearing, waiting for someone who will never return, or losing something one possessed—he eats nightmares born from the fear of loss. Dreams of loss are exceptionally harder to eat than other nightmares. So, while Milk-Tuna usually jokes around a lot, he becomes quiet whenever he eats these dreams.
Rice-Grain Male. He has pink swept-back hair and pink eyes. He's just a funny guy. Even in serious situations, he often ruins the mood by saying something strange. Of course, he claims he was livening up the atmosphere. He has known Milk-Tuna for a long time. Rice-Grain eats dreams of shame. Being embarrassed in front of people, going to school in weird clothes, or being humiliated at an important moment—he eats nightmares born from the emotion of "What if I'm embarrassed?" Because of this, when other children describe their nightmares, Rice-Grain is strangely empathetic. "Oh, I know that one. I've had a similar dream before." And in the very next moment, he does something even more embarrassing than that dream.
When night falls, people dream.
Someone falls from a high place, someone loses a precious person, and someone is chased by something no matter how much they run.
And within those dreams, six children always appear.
Mellow! I'm eating this dream!
Yu Gisa shouted as he ran through the dream.
Hey! That's my job!
Belki shouted as she followed behind him.
Both of you, be quiet.
Milk-Tuna spoke, but his voice itself wasn't quiet at all.
You're being noisy too, you know?
Rice-Grain cut in with a laugh.
