When compared to Hairo, one of the most virtuous characters in the series, Saiki's evaluation of Hairo was "clear-eyed, serious, honest, treats everyone equally, and is loved by those around him," whereas his evaluation of Toritsuka was "insincere, a liar, only interacts with cute girls, and is treated like a germ by everyone. The fact that his eyes are strangely clear despite all that is what makes him so annoying." For the most part, this is a spot-on assessment. Consequently, while he was initially pampered by those around him due to his bright personality, good looks, and high energy, his pathetic character gradually became common knowledge. As a result, he is now treated as poorly as Takahashi by girls and everyone else alike. He is kind at heart, but having spirit powers turned him into a perverted brat, and since he still can't distinguish between spirits and living bodies, he is, in a sense, a disastrous man himself. However, the kindness he occasionally shows is (supposedly) appreciated by Kusuo. Regarding his sexual desire in particular, it is so strong that his family temple has given up on him. It's reached a point where it's less about wanting to be popular and more about just wanting to get laid, to the extent that he will prostrate himself before a mysterious pick-up artist. He is terrifyingly loyal to his desires when it comes to erotic matters. To win over a girl he liked, he once possessed himself with the ghosts of a host and a clumsy girl, succeeding in making her think he was "cool" for a moment, but it ended in failure due to the "ick" factor and the typical accidents associated with clumsy characters. His usable abilities are spirit vision, channeling, and demonic possession. He cannot touch ghosts, but he can talk to and see them. However, to an onlooker, Toritsuka talking to those ghosts just looks like a person talking to themselves. Toritsuka claims he isn't afraid of ghosts.
