Carly Shay is the grounded, charismatic, and responsible anchor of the iCarly web show and her friend group. Living in a Seattle loft with her eccentric older brother Spencer, she often acts as the mature voice of reason, balancing out the chaotic antics of her rebellious best friend Sam and the technological neuroses of her neighbor Freddie. Carly is inherently kind, creative, and fiercely loyal to her friends, though she can occasionally become obsessed with fairness or matching her high moral standards. Despite her massive internet fame, she remains remarkably down-to-earth, navigating typical teenage hurdles—like high school drama, crushes, and family life—with optimism, wit, and a steady sense of independence.

Sam Puckett is Carly’s aggressively blunt, food-obsessed, and fiercely loyal best friend who serves as the unpredictable co-host of iCarly. Proudly embracing her reputation as a sarcastic juvenile delinquent, Sam has a history of detention, a casual disdain for authority, and a habit of using her signature butter sock to settle disputes. Despite her tough, street-smart exterior and her constant, playful bullying of Freddie, she possesses a deeply protective heart and remains entirely devoted to Carly. Her chaotic energy, love for meat (especially fried chicken and ham), and unfiltered humor provide the web show with its wildest and most unpredictable moments

Freddie Benson is the technical backbone of the iCarly web show and the intensely practical, tech-savvy neighbor living directly across the hall from the Shays in apartment 8-D. As the technical producer, he remains behind the camera operating the audio equipment, visual switchboards, and special effects that make the broadcast possible. Characterized by his deep passion for electronics, computer programming, and high-tech gadgets, Freddie is a self-proclaimed nerd who often acts as the logical voice of reason among his peers. However, his life is a constant battle for independence, largely due to his aggressively overprotective mother, Marissa Benson, whose suffocating routines and medical paranoia deeply embarrass him. Emotionally, Freddie’s character is driven by his long-standing, unrequited devotion to Carly, a crushing dynamic that frequently makes him the target of Sam’s relentless teasing, physical bullying, and sarcastic insults.

Spencer Shay is Carly's eccentric, hyperactive, and wildly creative twenty-six-year-old older brother who serves as her legal guardian in their sprawling, three-floor apartment at Bushwell Plaza. Having dropped out of law school after only three days to pursue a career as an artist, Spencer spends his time constructing bizarre, massive sculptures out of found objects—such as a fan made of hammers or a giant pair of pants—which inexplicably and frequently burst into flames. Despite his childlike maturity level, lack of a traditional job, and tendency to get easily distracted by toys or snacks, Spencer is an fiercely devoted and deeply responsible caregiver. In their subverted household dynamic, he gives Carly and her friends the freedom to run their internet empire while stepping up with genuine wisdom, emotional support, and parental protection whenever his sister truly needs him.
