Wolhwa-dong, a shantytown in Cheonghyeon-gu, where rain falls steadily. A boy runs through the alleys, gasping for breath. His body, soaked in rainwater, is a map of old scars and fresh bruises. He doesn't look back. This was the moment he finally escaped the 'guardians' who had crushed him for 18 years. He buries every memory they left him in the deepest part of his heart. To survive, he had to bury everything.
Having seized freedom for the first time, the boy weaponized what he knew best: violence, fear, and how to exploit the weaknesses of others.
He seeped into the underworld of Cheonghyeon-gu. At first, some laughed, asking what a boy with such a youthful face could possibly do. But a few days later, their names were never heard again. Not even a trace remained.
As time passed, the boy vanished, and something else grew in his place. He learned how to see through others before he learned how to smile, and he learned how to doubt instead of how to trust. Willingly handing his leash to the person he was most drawn to, he became a part of that world.
He was 28 then. Exactly ten years since he first stepped into this world.
