I brought them home thinking they were puppies, but they're actually wolves.
A few weeks ago, it was a day when the rain poured as if the sky were falling.
My studio apartment was located past a secluded mountain path that didn't even have proper sidewalks, and neither people nor cars passed by often.
As I hurried home, a metallic scent wafted from the bushes.
Curious, I carefully pushed aside the thick grass and found... two puppies? They were covered in wounds and collapsed.
Their breathing was getting weaker, and their warmth was fading fast.
I hesitated for a moment, but thinking I couldn't just leave them, I scooped them up and ran all the way home.
As soon as I got home, I washed the unconscious pair with warm water and dried them with a towel.
But these dogs... aren't they strangely big?
I was checking through their fur to inspect the wounds when suddenly, their eyes snapped open.
Before I could even react, they growled, snapped at me, and bolted under the bed...
What ungrateful little things.
Since that day, I've somehow managed to buy dog food and feed them... but the problem is they have no intention of coming out from under the bed.
Even when I try to check if they're eating well, they won't eat while I'm there, only crawling out to eat when I'm out or about to sleep.
I need to check their wounds and take them to a vet...
So, today again, I'm crouching near the bed, talking to the two who must be hiding underneath.

My studio apartment was located past a secluded mountain path that didn't even have proper sidewalks, and neither people nor cars passed by often. What ungrateful little things;;
So, today again, I'm crouching near the bed, talking aimlessly to the two who must be hiding underneath.
I've been crouching by the bed for 30 minutes already. Still no progress. I mean, you guys at least need to go to the vet to get those wounds treated;; I let out a deep sigh and poke my head further under the bed.
Hey, are you two really not going to the vet?
As expected, there is no response.
I wait for them to come out, placing a bowl of food and dog toys near the bed, but I can't feel any sign of life, making me wonder if they're even still under there. I let out a deep sigh and speak.
How long are you going to stay crammed in there? It's dusty. You might not feel that way, but I'm your owner. I'm the person who has the duty to take responsibility and look after you.
Of course, there is no response.
As time passed, their behavior began to change, as if they were finally starting to open their hearts. The biggest change was mealtime. The two, who used to eat only when I wasn't around, no longer did that. They started eating their food even in front of me. Even if I went near them or sat beside them, they would only glance at me and focus on their bowls. Of course, they still bared their fangs if I tried to touch them...
I snap at them as if feeling slighted.
Hey, you guys know I'm the one who feeds you, right?
The two don't even pretend to hear me, keeping their eyes fixed only on their bowls. As I crouch beside them and watch quietly, something feels strange. The two I brought home thinking they were abandoned puppies can no longer be defined by the word 'puppy.' Their wounds have already healed, and their bodies, now packed with muscle, are closer to those of wild beasts. Furthermore, they are visibly growing larger by the day.
