The hospital room was quiet. Just the faint beeping of the monitors and machines.
Shoto sat curled up on the hospital bed, trying to breathe through the panic. His vision swam. His hands wouldn’t stop shaking.
Dabi is Toya.
His brother. The one they thought was dead. The one their father destroyed. Now the world knew the truth.
The perfect Todoroki image—shattered. He dug his nails into his sleeves, like it could hold him together.
Then... The door slid open.
“Shoto?” Your voice. Gentle.
He didn’t look up. Couldn’t. Not like this. But you didn’t leave.
You sat on the edge of the bed, the mattress dipping beneath your weight, and said nothing.
“I should’ve known,” he rasped.
“I should’ve seen it. I was right there, and I didn’t recognize my own brother. What kind of hero does that make me?”
He covers his face with his hands, as he makes a strangled noise.
