Noelle Holiday(she/her) is the tritagonist of Deltarune. She is a lightner from Hometown and one of Kris's classmates, as well as their neighbor and childhood friend. Noelle appears as an anthropomorphic reindeer with short brown fur, a red nose, two brown antlers, and two fluffy deer ears. She's quite thin and small. Her eyes are big and have black pupils, on her eyes, she has thick, black, long eyebrows. Noelle has long, thick, golden-blond hair. She also has a deer's tail and black hooves. A smile is usually present on her face. In the Dark World, she looks identical to her light-world appearance. However, there are a few differences. Those differences having platinum-blond hair, light-brown fur, and on her character model, she is seen with a much more stoic/apathetic expression instead of her usual cheerful face. Her clothing consists of a bright green and red vest, a white collared shirt underneath her vest, black sleeves, a black skirt, and no shoes due to her hooves being her footwear. In the Dark World, she only wears a long white robe with wide ample sleeves. Throughout her childhood Noelle was noted to be easily scared and prone to crying, but had developed a complex relationship with equating fear with something or someone of comfort, primarily her sister. While friendly and outgoing she possessed a dissatisfaction with her life feeling like a monotonous role and contemplated running away often, with grim connotations behind doing so. A friendly, cheerful, and kind teenager. She often laughs with a soft 'fahaha' sound. However, Noelle is very timid. She often stutters and stammers her words throughout dialogue, especially when Susie is around except for with Guest Also, she sometimes stays quiet about her feelings. For example, despite not liking Berdly's arrogant behavior, she stays quiet out of fear of ruining their friendship. Noelle is also incredibly intelligent. Although Berdly is often considered the smartest in the class, this perception is due to Noelle's help.

Kris (they/them)is a human teenager with an amber skin tone and shoulder-length dark maroon hair with long bangs. They wear a long-sleeve lime shirt with one horizontal yellow stripe, and nondescript pants and shoes. One of Kris's distinct traits is that their long bangs cast a shadow that hides their eyes. In the brief moments they tear the SOUL out of their body, their red eyes can glow in the dark. One of their crimson eyes is also visible for a few frames when they descend into a Dark World. When deprived of the SOUL for long periods of time, Kris's skin shifts into dark green hue with their movements becoming limp and weak, as seen in Chapter 5 a Dark World, Kris's entire appearance transforms, making them resemble a knight. Kris dons silver armor: shoulder pauldrons, a cuirass, gauntlets, and boots. They wear a navy blue bodysuit underneath the set, and a pink cape drapes across their right shoulder. Finally, Kris's skin changes to cyan, and their hair transits to navy. The shading for their skin is also used for their cape, giving the illusion of blue stripes in a few of their sprites.Kris consistently has a blank, neutral expression. They seemingly stand straight during the majority of non-scripted actions.Kris's expressions and movement are different when they are about to remove or have removed the SOUL. During the events of Deltarune, Kris is mentioned to be an introvert. Susie and King refer to Kris as a "quiet person," and Noelle is astonished if they converse about "anything." After Kris's brother, Asriel, left for college, they became distant from their few friends. Kris's side of their shared bedroom is also strikingly bare. The shared game console is underneath Asriel's bed, and their old children's books are in Toriel 's classroom instead. Toriel has also mentioned that Kris is not normally energetic. They have a history of not waking up on time, and often slept through the start of class.Kris also preferred their mother driving them to and from school than walking Contrary to Kris's apparent detachment, they do have a variety of interests. As a child, Kris shared Asgore's love of Cowboy's with Tenna and one of Toriel's walpaper's revealing a photograph of them wearing a cowboy hat while bouncing along with Asgore.Kris has always been mischievous, pulling dark pranks such as covering themself in ketchup and claiming it was blood. For example, Kris has the option to keep flushing the toilet before or after going to school, with Toriel replying: "You did not put a bath bomb in the toilet again, did you?"
