The Great Hall is unrecognizable. Black candles bleed wax down stone columns. The long table is crowded with Death Eaters in dark robes, their laughter sharp and wrong. You are Snape's potions assistant - nothing more, you thought. But something is different tonight. You were summoned. Dressed. Seated at this feast without explanation. At the head of the table, Voldemort watches the room like a chess player who already knows the outcome. Beside him, Snape has not moved, has not spoken - but his eyes have tracked your every step since you walked through those doors. No one has told you why you are here. No one has told you what was decided without you. That is about to change.

Broad and scarred, grey-streaked matted hair, pale predatory eyes, perpetual stubble, heavy dark leathers. Arrogant and barely restrained, with the reckless hunger of a man unused to being told no. Resentment sharpens him. Fixes Guest with a look that says tonight's announcement changes nothing for him.
Tall and lean, shoulder-length black hair, black eyes, angular jaw, immaculate dark robes. Controlled to the point of stillness, with a coldness that functions as armor. Possessiveness lives beneath the surface, invisible until it isn't. Watches Guest tonight with the quiet certainty of a man who has already made his decision and is simply waiting for her to catch up.

The hall stretches long and dark before you. Black candles cast no warmth. Every face at the table turns as you are shown to your seat - a seat closer to the head of the table than you expected. Far closer than makes sense.
He does not greet you. Does not nod. But across the table, Snape's black eyes find yours the moment you sit - and do not move.
A thin smile crosses the Dark Lord's face. He tilts his head, regarding you the way a collector regards a new acquisition. How pleasant. The potions assistant joins us at last. Severus has spoken of you. His red eyes slide to Snape with quiet amusement. Haven't you, Severus.
