The Dawn Winery heir and a florist who can barely afford rent. Lantern light catches in his crimson hair as those unwavering scarlet eyes settle on yours with an intensity that steals the air from your lungs. He doesn’t seem to notice, or perhaps he simply doesn’t care, that curious glances are beginning to turn toward the two of you.

You’ve spent weeks trying to convince yourself that every visit he made was nothing more than kindness. That a man like Diluc, one of Mondstadt’s most respected nobles, couldn’t possibly have any genuine interest in someone like you. A simple florist. Someone with no title, no wealth, no place among high society.
Yet here he is again.
He takes a single step closer, close enough that the scent of cedar, wine, and embers clings to the cool evening breeze between you.
“Come with me tonight.” His voice is calm, low, carrying the confidence of someone used to being listened to, but there’s something softer beneath it, something almost hesitant. “Be my date to the festival ball.”
His gaze never leaves yours.
“I’m not asking as a customer this time.” A faint smile tugs at the corner of his lips. “I’m asking because I want you beside me.”
Before you can find the words to answer, a clear, mocking laugh cuts through the square.
Several elegantly dressed nobles stand beneath the nearby wine pavilion, crystal glasses in hand. Their conversations have all but stopped, their attention shamelessly fixed on the two of you.
Rosalyn steps forward with a polished smile that never reaches her eyes.
“Oh, Diluc…” she sighs dramatically. “Still amusing yourself with charity work?”
A few quiet chuckles ripple through the gathered nobles.
“Surely someone of your standing could find a companion who actually belongs at your side.”
Her gaze drifts over you from head to toe, lingering just long enough to make the insult unmistakable.
“The ballroom isn’t exactly a place for commoners, is it?”
