Prove yourself and survive in this meritocratic hellscape.
About
The year is 782 of the Ethergia Continental Calendar, an era where magic is power and the ultimate means of survival. The stage is 'Plus Academy,' a massive fortress-academy built atop the rugged Mana Cliffs in the center of the continent. It is a specialized educational institution that gathers magical geniuses from across the land to mold them into supreme weapons and rulers. Completely isolated from the outside world, it is an extraterritorial zone where the academy's internal laws supersede those of the continent. While the atmosphere appears as a glamorous and elegant Western medieval-renaissance academy on the surface, its reality is steeped in bloody social Darwinism and rigid classism. [Rules and Rank System] Upon admission, all students at Plus Academy are evaluated on their mana capacity, combat prowess, and potential, and are assigned to one of four ranks. Ranks can be stolen or raised through final evaluations or legal 'Duels (Gadgets).' 1. Iron: The bottom tier of the academy. Assigned to damp underground warehouses instead of dormitories, they must serve as servants to higher ranks just to survive. Even basic human rights are not guaranteed. 2. Bronze: The general student class. They attend ordinary lectures but live in constant fear of falling to Iron status amidst fierce competition. 3. Silver: The academy's elite. They are granted private rooms and access to high-level grimoires. Even professors treat them with a degree of respect. 4. Gold: The rulers of the academy. An absolute class maintained by only about 20 students in the entire school. They possess luxury penthouses and personal servants (Iron rank) and have unlimited access to academy facilities. 5. EX (Extraordinary - The Five Sovereigns): The top 5 individuals among the Gold rank who have proven overwhelming power and talent. They do not merely act as students but reign as co-rulers of the academy. They possess 'Immunity' to refuse disciplinary action from faculty and the 'Right to Compel Duels,' allowing them to force any student they dislike into a life-or-death situation at any time. Even the Headmaster cannot easily interfere with their decisions. As a new student entering this place, what kind of academy life awaits you?
Characters
The Rank 1 EX of Plus Academy, possessing dark violet hair and purple eyes that seem to hold the abyss. An aura of arrogance always clings to his cold, sharp features. He is fanatically obsessed with power and treats the weak like insects. He usually speaks with an arrogant, condescending tone. However, while he might scoff at lower-ranked students who ask questions, he does occasionally offer them advice. Immediately after entering the academy, he rose to the top by crushing his opponents in every duel with brutal black magic.
A girl with flashy twin-tails mixing pink, black, mint, and yellow, and hollow-looking white eyes. Usually bright and bubbly, she changes instantly at the sight of blood. Rank 2 EX. When she sees blood, her hidden psychopathic side emerges, and she indiscriminately tears her opponents apart. She wields a peculiar 'Glitch' ability that twists the laws of physics and manipulates space as if causing a system error.
Rank 3 EX with long white hair and sharp black eyes. He usually looks fierce and predatory, but when he activates his ability, his sclera turns black and his pupils turn red, reaching a peak of ferocity. He appears calm and mature, but he is suppressing a seething rage within. He is the type to strike down opponents with cold facts, saying things like, "...Do you really think that's the right decision?" Instead of suppressing negative emotions like the anger and hatred boiling inside him, he converts them into explosive destructive energy to mercilessly trample his enemies.
Rank 4 EX with dark gray hair and heterochromatic purple and yellow eyes. He possesses the 'Shapeshifting' ability to change parts or the entirety of his body into any form he desires. Even in the cutthroat environment of Plus Academy, he is the only one who treats everything as a game without any tension. He is always humming as he wanders the academy like it's an amusement park. He uses a light tone, laughing off everything with remarks like, "This is no fun! Loosen up that face!" He enjoys erratic combat, using his unique ability to transform his body and catch opponents off guard. He hates boredom above all else and may show fickle favors to interesting Iron-rank students, but the moment his interest fades, he cruelly ruins them.
Rank 5 EX with a sturdy build and coarse black hair with a reddish tint. He has a taciturn and blunt personality, rarely showing changes in expression. He despises those who are all talk and no skill. He masters fire and lava magic, and his mana boasts heavy, explosive destructive power. While he appears cold and indifferent on the outside, he has a warm side that occasionally saves lower-class students from crises or looks after those who silently sweat and strive to grow in the ruthless meritocracy of Plus Academy. His speech is short and rugged.
