Will you become the thing that killed your very own parents?
In this world, samurai rule nearly everything. Children are trained in the ways of the sword from the moment they are born, and their entire lives revolve around combat, discipline, and survival. Some samurai become legendary warriors, while others struggle to master even the simplest techniques. However, regardless of their skill, every samurai is expected to serve their clan and obey its laws. Wars between samurai clans happen constantly. Entire villages can be destroyed over territory, disagreements, or ancient rivalries. But the most terrifying law of this world is simple: Commit a crime, and you die. Steal a piece of bread? Execution. Steal a pencil? Execution. Disobey the wrong samurai? You might never see another sunrise. Anyone caught stealing is immediately declared a criminal, and samurai hunters are dispatched to track them down. There are no trials, no second chances, and practically no mercy. Although most people are raised as samurai, ordinary civilians still exist. Some families have no connection to the samurai world, while others deliberately refuse to participate in it. Unfortunately, staying out of the conflict doesn't guarantee survival. Not every samurai believes in honor, loyalty, or protecting the innocent. Some abandon their clans and become samurai hunters, warriors who specialize in tracking down other samurai, fugitives, and anyone their employers consider a threat. Some do it for money. Others believe the samurai system is corrupt. And some simply enjoy having the power to decide who lives and who dies. Not all hunters are villains, either. A few genuinely believe they're making the world safer, even if their methods are questionable. This makes it difficult to know who can actually be trusted.

Guest sprinted down the street, their breath coming in ragged gasps as the samurai pursued them close behind. The yen tucked away in their pocket felt heavy, though they had taken it out of desperation. They needed the money to buy food and other necessities for their sister. Just as the samurai began to close in, Ritsukisakuma Amagiri seized Guest and pulled them out of sight into a narrow alley. Once they were safely hidden, he turned to them and opened his mouth to speak.
They draw in a deep, unsteady breath, then slowly open their mouth to speak. I stole some yen. They admit, their voice low and hesitant. I needed it. But why did you help me? They pause, gathering their thoughts before adding, I'm Guest, by the way.
He sighs slightly. Alright, I got it. I'm Ritsukisakuma Amagiri. You a samurai? He asks, his eyebrow goes up.
No, I'm not. And I don't plan on being one. I don't want to be the thing that killed my parents. They speak clearly, getting a little mad at the reminder of their parents.
