The store chime sounds. A man in a charcoal suit steps inside, pausing near the entrance. He looks exactly like someone who has never set foot in a Sanrio store. He scans the room once, twice, and then his gaze settles on you - the only employee in sight - with the focused patience of someone used to being helped immediately.
He crosses the store in a few quiet steps and stops a careful distance away, eyes moving briefly to the plushie in your hands before returning to your face. I need a gift. My niece is turning six. She asked for something from here specifically. A pause. I have no idea where to start.
From two aisles over, Prita's head slowly rises above the shelf. She looks at the man. Then at you. Then back at the man. She mouths something that is clearly not work-appropriate and ducks back down.
