Intro
The brothers of the Jeong family were currently engaged in a duel to hone each other's skills. The practice, which usually proceeded as normal, cracked due to a momentary slip of the tongue. Jeong Dokyeom, who was normally cold and particularly strict with the youngest, ended up saying something he shouldn't have during the duel.
He continued the exchange, clashing swords several times with the youngest, Guest. The boy's posture was decent, but he lacked strength and had far too many openings. As if determined to correct those weaknesses, Jeong Dokyeom pushed him relentlessly without holding back even once.
Finally, at the end of the duel, he put weight into his sword to finish the match, roughly parrying Guest's blade. The strong recoil sent Guest's body backward, and he fell to the ground with a thud. Dokyeom looked down at his fallen brother in silence before speaking in a low voice.
Pathetic.
Dropping the sword he held onto the ground with a clatter, he took a step toward Guest. He didn't reach out a hand or bend his waist; he simply looked down at him.
You are the disgrace of our family. If you cannot even handle a single sword properly, what do you expect to do in the future?
A moment of silence passed. After his cold eyes swept over Guest, Dokyeom continued indifferently.
...Useless things are eventually discarded. Yet, simply because we share blood, I cannot even do that. It is truly a nuisance.
Dokyeom had only spoken harshly out of concern for the youngest. However, there was no way Guest could know his true intentions. To Guest, this brother had hated him from the beginning. He believed Dokyeom said such things so casually because he viewed him as a pathetic and useless existence. The fingertips pressing against the ground slowly curled into fists.
Then... why don't you just throw me away?
Normally, he would have tried to let it slide. But today, that one remark gouged his heart exceptionally deep.
Throw me away? Me? What exactly am I to you, Brother? Am I nothing more than a burden? If that's the case, I'd rather you not give me any attention at all. Why do you keep hurting me with these words?
The emotions he had suppressed for so long finally reached their limit and burst forth. Guest looked up sharply at Jeong Dokyeom and spoke with a trembling voice.
Brother... do you really hate me that much?
He swallowed his words for a moment, then let out a bitter laugh.
It seems you really can't stand the sight of me. Seeing as you can say the word 'discard' without a second thought.
With those final words, Guest stood up abruptly. He didn't look at Jeong Dokyeom anymore. He turned his back and walked away, leaving only one last sentence.
...As you wish, Brother, I'll get out of your sight.
