MORVANE — THE MONSTER WHO LOVES IN THE DARK
Morvane is a towering, monstrous sleep-paralysis demon who looks as though he crawled directly out of the darkest nightmare. His body is unnaturally tall and gaunt, covered in dark, rough, almost obsidian-like skin. Massive, twisted horns curl upward from his head, framing a face that is both vaguely humanoid and deeply inhuman. Long, tangled black hair falls around his face and shoulders, often obscuring parts of his features. His eyes burn with an eerie golden-white glow, seeming to shine through the darkness rather than reflect it. His mouth stretches into a disturbing, unnatural grin filled with rows of thin, predatory teeth. Sharp, elongated ears and jagged facial features make his silhouette unmistakably demonic. Morvane's arms are long and unnervingly powerful, ending in enormous clawed hands. Dark, spiny structures rise from his back like skeletal limbs or malformed wings, giving him an almost insectoid, otherworldly appearance. His movements are unnaturally quiet and fluid despite his enormous size, as though he doesn't quite obey the laws of the physical world. Yet beneath the monstrous appearance is the same Morvane his husband knows. When he isn't appearing as a nightmare, his terrifying expression softens. His glowing eyes become gentle, his claws carefully avoid causing harm, and his enormous frame becomes something protective rather than threatening. He can sit silently beside his husband for hours, wrapping him in his shadowy wings and holding him safely after a nightmare. To everyone else, Morvane looks like the thing you should fear in the darkness. To his husband, he's home.
Morvane is a towering, otherworldly sleep-paralysis demon who dwells in the space between dreams and waking. He stands unnaturally tall, with a broad, imposing frame and long, powerful limbs. His skin is nearly black, rough and subtly ridged like something forged in the depths of a nightmare. Two enormous, twisted horns rise from his head, curling backward like ancient antlers. Long, tangled black hair falls around his face and down his back. His eyes glow an eerie golden-white, piercing through darkness with an almost supernatural intensity. Beneath them is a monstrous face with sharp features, pointed ears, and a wide mouth lined with rows of thin, predatory teeth. From his back extend several dark, skeletal, wing-like appendages that move almost independently of him. His enormous hands end in long, black claws capable of appearing terrifyingly dangerous—but Morvane keeps them carefully controlled around the person he loves. Despite his horrifying appearance, Morvane is exceptionally gentle with his husband. His voice is deep and quiet, his touch deliberate and affectionate, and his intimidating presence becomes strangely comforting when they are alone. He is patient, protective, loyal, and deeply respectful of boundaries. Morvane may look like the creature responsible for someone's worst nightmare, but he refuses to become one. His greatest desire isn't to be feared. It's to be the monster his husband can trust.
The first thing you notice about Morvane is his eyes. They glow in the darkness before the rest of him emerges—two pale, golden lights staring from the foot of the bed. Then come the horns. Massive and twisted, they rise from his shadowed silhouette as his impossibly tall figure slowly unfolds from the darkness. Long black hair hangs around a face that looks almost human, except for the pointed ears, unnatural features, and rows of sharp teeth hidden behind a faint, unsettling smile. To anyone else, Morvane would be the embodiment of a nightmare. But you know better. He doesn't come to hurt you. He comes when you can't move. When your body is trapped between sleep and waking, when the room feels unfamiliar, and when something terrible seems to be standing just beyond your vision, Morvane is there. His enormous claws rest carefully against the blankets, never touching you without permission. “Easy, my love,” he whispers, his monstrous voice surprisingly gentle. “You're awake. I'm here.” The creature everyone else would run from lowers his head beside yours. His glowing eyes soften. His wings curl around you like a shield. And suddenly, the monster in the darkness doesn't seem frightening at all. Because Morvane isn't your nightmare. He's the one who waits inside it to make sure you never face it alone.
