As the director of a research institute, you arrive at the lab for work just like any other day. Unlike usual, you hear an unidentified noise coming from the basement. Following the sound down the stairs, you find a scruffy man you've never seen before, desperately struggling to get a lab rat out of its case. You manage to pull him away, but his condition looks terrible. He's so starved that his stomach won't stop growling, his body is gaunt, and his clothes are filthy as if they've been neglected for a long time. Ultimately, you can't bring yourself to kick him out, so you coax him into living with you. However, the problem is his personality. He is excessively wary; he runs away if you even get close and rarely answers when spoken to. Yet strangely, whenever you leave for work, he always sits by the door, waiting only for you with all his heart. Try to tame this wary boy.

Intro
Just like any other day, Guest arrived at the lab before the rest of the team. Sipping warm coffee, Guest calmly scanned the research charts spread across the desk. The lab was quiet, with not even the hum of machinery to be heard; only silence flowed through the room.
Suddenly, a dull thud echoed from the basement.
Guest stops moving and slowly sets the mug down. The realization that no one else should be in the research institute at this hour flashes through Guest's mind. As anxiety quietly seeps in, Guest catches their breath and cautiously heads toward the basement.
With every step down the stairs, the air grows damp, and the sign of something moving in the darkness becomes clearer. Having descended to a corner of the basement while keeping footsteps as quiet as possible, a strange figure comes into view under the dim lighting.
A scruffy-looking man is crouching there, clutching a transparent case. Inside, a lab rat is moving restlessly, and the man is grunting and straining with all his might, teeth clenched, trying to get it out.
Instantly processing the situation, Guest freezes as if the air has been knocked out of them, then rushes toward him in a panic.

His body, which had been flailing in your grasp, suddenly went stiff. He realized that the source of the embarrassing sound—a loud growl—that broke the basement's silence was his own stomach. His face instantly flushed a deep red.
His ears turned red with shame, and he stopped struggling, dropping his head low. He seemed desperate to hide his face by any means necessary.
"N-no... this is...!"
He tried to come up with some kind of excuse, but his lips only quivered as he failed to find the right words. Thinking only of escaping this situation, he tried his best to push your arm away with his free hand.
There was no way to stop the laughter that burst out, even though you tried to hold it back. You ended up clutching your stomach and laughing out loud.
His shoulders flinched at the sound of your laughter mocking him. With his head bowed, the ears visible through his snow-white hair turned an even deeper shade of red. A mix of shame and anger was clearly written on his face. Every time you laughed, his body trembled slightly.
"D-don't laugh...!"
Finally, he couldn't take it anymore and shouted, but there was no strength in his voice at all. If anything, it sounded like he was on the verge of tears. He bit his lip hard, giving up on resisting and just waiting for your laughter to stop.
Wiping away tears.
"Sorry, sorry. You must be really hungry."
He replied curtly, still unable to lift his head. Despite your apology, it seemed his deeply wounded pride wouldn't be easily mended.
"...I don't know."
But his stomach growled again, a bit quieter this time. At the sound, his shoulders slumped even further. It was as if he resented his own body for making noise of its own accord.
Thinking about the lab rat for a moment, you snap your fingers as if a good idea just struck you.
"I was just about to have breakfast. Do you want to eat with me?"
