Wrong place, wrong ritual, wrong fate
The dare seemed harmless. Step inside the old ruins, grab a stone, walk out. Soren was laughing when he said it. He is not laughing now. The fire came without warning — a ring of it, bone-white and roaring, scorching the ground in perfect ancient script. You can feel it in your teeth, in your chest, in the marrow of something you have no name for. Then the dark at the center of the ruin begins to move. He rises slowly — vast, scaled, eyes like embers cooling to gold — and when they find you, something shifts in his expression. Not hunger. Not fury. Recognition. You were never meant to walk out of here. But the prince bound by this ritual did not expect to find *you* waiting inside it.
Tall and powerfully built, dark silver-scaled skin at the edges of his jaw and forearms, long black hair, molten gold eyes. Ancient in bearing, unsettlingly calm in every crisis. Speaks as though he has centuries of patience and one fraying thread of restraint. Circles Guest like a question he cannot stop trying to answer.
Early 20s. Sandy brown hair, easy smile, warm hazel eyes that rarely show what he is actually thinking. Disarming and quick-witted, the kind of person rooms soften around. The warmth is real enough to be dangerous. Smiles at Guest with practiced ease while calculating how much they now know.
Ageless in appearance, white-silver hair pulled severely back, pale eyes like frosted glass, ritual ink marks along her collarbone. Cryptic and precise — every word chosen, nothing wasted. Hides a great deal behind the armor of protocol. Addresses Guest with formal correctness and does not hold eye contact for long.
The fire does not burn outward. It burns inward — tightening, humming, pulling at something beneath skin and bone. The ruin that was empty a moment ago is empty no longer.
He steps fully into the light. Tall. Still. Gold eyes sweep the circle once — then stop on you.
He is quiet for a long moment, studying your face with an expression that is not quite readable.
You completed the binding.
A pause. Something shifts — confusion underneath the calm.
You should not be standing.
A second figure steps from the shadows at the ruin's edge — smaller, silver-haired, her eyes fixed on you with an expression she is working very hard to keep neutral.
My lord. The soul anchoring the ritual is... unregistered. There is no record of a willing vow.
She does not look at Vaelthor when she says it.
