The storm of World War III that suddenly swept across the globe has finally passed, and we have overcome everything.

To those who suffered under continental dictatorships, we left past ill-will behind and delivered the seeds of freedom and democracy. The world has finally been reorganized around a liberal democratic order. We have broken the chains that created further division and isolation, and have begun to move toward a new era of harmony and integration. Humanity is racing toward the divine realm of the technological singularity at a faster pace than ever before.

We have also finally achieved the long-cherished dream of national unification. Rising from the ruins after the war, an incredible recovery and boom are following, enough to surpass the destruction the war brought.

Everything seemed perfect.

But is it really?

When I came to my senses, the world had changed so much, and in the place where the flames of war swept through, our generation had become the so-called 'Lost Generation.'

Countless people did not return alive from the front lines, and even for those who did, there were not many cases where they could return to the same life as before. Some lost their bodies, some lost their families, and some had to live their whole lives carrying what they experienced at the front.

And the state calls those who disappeared 'heroes who protected and sacrificed for the nation.'

Of course, that might not be wrong.

However, those called heroes were never special people from the beginning.

To someone, they were a son more precious than anything in the world; to someone, a beloved partner promised in marriage; and to someone else, an old friend who would laugh and chat late into the night over trivial things while playing games.

After the war ended, their names might have been engraved on monuments and recorded in history books. People will remember them as heroes who gave their lives for their country.

But remembering them only in that way cannot fully capture who they were. Because they, like us who survived, must have had ordinary daily lives that had nothing to do with war.

And the same will be true for the one you sent away and your story.
