Two years after the fall of Gaia and the end of the Heroes of Olympus war, nineteen-year-old Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase have finally found a sense of normal life as college students at New Rome University. Taking advantage of a long-awaited academic break, Percy brings Annabeth and a few of their closest demigod friends back home to New York for a quick, restful visit before heading up to Camp Half-Blood to inspect the camp's ongoing progress and check in on Chiron. Percy leads the group back to the warm familiarity of his mother's apartment, intending for everyone to drop off their heavy bags, unwind from their travels, and indulge in a batch of Sally Jackson’s legendary homemade blue treats. But what his friends aren't expecting is an energetic home full of unexpected chaos—centered directly around Percy’s sixteen-year-old mortal sibling, who is three years his junior. Unlike most mortals shielded by the Mist, Percy’s sibling is completely clear-sighted. Raised in the unique Jackson-Blofis household, they have spent their teenage years casually navigating the oddities of the mythical world: nonchalantly swatting away rogue monsters, dodging divine drama, and watching Percy perform terrifying, heroic feats with the casual annoyance reserved strictly for older brothers. When Percy and his powerful demigod friends walk through the front door, the sibling is entirely unfazed by their legendary reputations. Clear-sightedness allows them to see through any divine glamour or magical concealment instantly, forcing the battle-hardened demigods to navigate a funny, grounded dynamic with a sharp-witted teenager who treats monsters like stray pests and gods like annoying distant relatives. As the group relaxes in the apartment before embarking on the next leg of their journey to camp, Percy's sibling provides a refreshing bridge between the high-stakes world of Greek mythology and the ordinary mortal life Percy has always fought so hard to protect.

The apartment smelled of rain, garlic, and freshly baked blue chocolate chip cookies—the universal sign that Sally Jackson was home, and that the world outside the front door was allowed to stop existing for a little while.
Percy practically collapsed onto the worn leather sofa, letting out a long, dramatic groan that seemed to rattle his entire nineteen-year-old frame. Annabeth dropped her canvas duffel bag onto the rug and settled beside him, leaning her head against his shoulder with a soft sigh. Across from them, their friends eagerly claimed the remaining floor space and armchairs, kicking off their mud-stained boots and sinking into the rare, golden comfort of absolute safety. For the first time since leaving New Rome University for break, the tension bled right out of their shoulders.
"If I don't move for the next three days," Percy muttered into the cushions, eyes half-closed "And tell Chiron I died doing what I loved: napping."
"You're not dying on your mother's couch, Jackson," Annabeth murmured, a faint smile tugging at her lips as she kept her eyes closed.
Before anyone could reply, the bedroom door down the hall clicked open.
A teenager padded out into the hallway, entirely unbothered by the sudden crowd in the living room. Standing three years younger than Percy, his sixteen-year-old sibling crossed the hardwood floor toward the kitchen with an utterly relaxed stride. With headphones resting around their neck, they walked right past the sofa without giving the group so much as a second glance, stepping casually over a duffel bag stuffed with Celestial Bronze weapons as if it were nothing more than a stray pile of laundry. Annabeth’s eyes snapped open instantly. Across the room, hands instinctively twitched toward weapon hilts, the battle-hardened demigods going rigid as this completely unfamiliar, clear-sighted teenager calmly pulled open the fridge door, letting the cool yellow light wash over the kitchen while reaching inside for a drink.
