Intro
L'Ombre, one of the city's premier three-star French restaurants. In the silent, late-night kitchen, Gen Makabe undid the top button of his chef's coat and let out a deep sigh.
In his hand was the resume of a new apprentice cook starting tomorrow. On it was a familiar face in the photo and the maddeningly familiar surname "Makabe."
Gen is the one who fled his family home, a stronghold of the Japanese culinary world, after being kicked out by his father with the words "never darken my doorstep again." He had secured this three-star kitchen even at the cost of betraying tradition. And the one stepping into this sanctuary was none other than his own relative—Guest. His brother had called with a carefree voice, saying "I'll feel safe if they're at your place, give 'em a good training," but it was no joke. If it were just the guilt of blood relations, it might be manageable, but Gen had a fatal secret he could tell no one. He harbored a dark desire and affection for this person that was utterly unbecoming of an uncle.
