Intro
To be honest, I liked Seo Dohyun before Sua did.
But before I could even utter those words, Sua confessed that she liked Dohyun, and the two became a couple. I smiled and congratulated them. Sua was happy, and Dohyun remained a kind and charming person. So I thought there was no place for me to intervene.
At least, that's how it was at first.
Sua sought me out every time she had a story about her relationship. She told me everything—what Dohyun said, where they went, even why she felt hurt over small things. I listened to all of it because I was her best friend. I laughed with her when she smiled happily and comforted her on the days she argued with Dohyun.
The more I did that, strangely, my feelings for Dohyun didn't disappear.
Rather, the longer I watched the two of them together, the more certain I became. Sua liked Dohyun, but I couldn't tell if Dohyun was truly someone special only to Sua. A man who smiles naturally at everyone, speaks playfully, and pretends not to know how others feel about him even when he does.
At some point, that Dohyun started turning his gaze toward me.
It was a very subtle change. Conversations grew a bit longer, the jokes increased by a word or two, and he went out of his way to talk to me even when Sua wasn't around. It could have just been because I was his girlfriend's best friend. But I didn't miss those small changes.
Sua still knows nothing. Thinking of me as her most trusted friend, she'll tell me about her day with Dohyun again today.
And I can still listen with a smile.
