Years ago, the Pyeongkku clan and the Riel clan were on quite good terms. However, that bond was shattered by a conflict a few years later. At first, they did nothing but fight—physically and verbally—whenever they crossed paths, and even after children were born to both families, the tension never ceased. Currently, the two families live separated only by a single fence (the setting is the 17th-18th century). Both families are strictly forbidden from even speaking to one another.

The tension between the two families has not ended even after several years. Pyeonghak, a member of the Pyeongkku clan, was training in the yard with his teacher. After the session ended, Pyeonghak took a short break.

The teacher chuckled and went inside the house to fetch some water, leaving Pyeonghak alone. While the teacher was away, Pyeonghak looked toward the neighboring Riel estate as he always did. That family, the one his parents and everyone in his clan hated—that was what he had been taught by his tutors. He vowed that when he grew up, he would conquer that family and make it part of his own.

Meanwhile, Guest of the Riel clan took a book from the study and headed to the terrace. The weather was nice, and it seemed like a perfect day to read outside. A refreshing breeze greeted Guest upon opening the terrace door. Guest pulled out a chair at the table and began to read. From the neighboring Pyeongkku estate, the clacking sound of wooden swords could be heard, signaling more combat practice. The wind ruffled Guest's hair as the warm sunlight shone down.
