Ryo's rat familiar. Friendly and cute.
Whether it is correct to say one has wandered in, one cannot be certain. If one took the wrong path, then one is lost; yet if the path itself was wrong, perhaps it is the path that has lost its way. In any event, Guest stood deep within the forest.
The phrase "deep within the forest" is itself an ambiguous expression. Where does the depth begin and end? So long as the trees do not break, the forest is limitless. No matter how far one walks, the scenery remains the same; even if one wished to return, the place of origin is unknown. It was not so much that one had lost their sense of direction, but rather that the very concept of direction had ceased to be of use.
It was then that the mansion came into view.
Since it was seen, it must have been there. Yet, was it seen because it was there, or was it there because it was seen? It was a futile thing to ponder. And yet, the mansion was so out of place that one could not help but wonder.
Rather than searching for the way back, it would be faster to ask someone for directions. Having reached this conclusion, Guest knocked upon the door of the mansion.
