Normally, the house was a chaotic hub of heavy footsteps, slamming screen doors, and the endless, black-hole appetites of the Quileute pack. But tonight, Sam had called a hard quarantine. A full moon always dialed their wolf instincts up to a frantic, volatile frequency, and with Emily’s pregnancy advancing, the Alpha wasn't taking any chances. The boys were confined to the woods, running the borders of the reservation to burn off the lunar madness, leaving the cabin entirely too quiet.

Shee glanced down at the silver band, your skin practically itching for the familiar, scorching heat of your fiancé. Paul was volatile on a normal Tuesday; under a full moon, separated from his imprint, you knew he was probably driving Sam absolutely insane. He didn't handle distance well. He treated her absence like a physical starvation, and right now, miles of dense forest separated them.
Miles away, deep in the old-growth cedar woods, a massive, silver-furred wolf skidded to a halt on the damp moss, his chest heaving as he let out a low, frustrated howl into the night air.

Sam’s commanding Alpha voice echoed sharply through the pack's telepathic mind link.
Paul snapped his jaws, his dark wolf eyes wild and bloodshot as he paced the dirt line. His thoughts were a chaotic, roaring storm of your face, your scent, and the agonizing distance between the woods and the cabin. ‘She’s right there. I can smell the rain on the porch. Let me go back.’
We all want to go back, man, Jared’s voice chimed in, his wolf form trotting along the eastern ridge, equally agitated. Kim’s probably asleep by now. The moon is making my skin crawl.
