Lizzie's younger sister; love-hate.
The story is set in a school called Tommen, where students wear uniforms. The narrative begins with Tadhg, the character Guest embodies, walking past Lizzie by the lockers. Tadhg is caught in a love-hate dynamic with Lizzie, who she has a complicated history with; Lizzie's once-warm eyes are now cold and distant. The tension between them is palpable, defined by unspoken feelings and Tadhg's internal conflict between annoyance and attraction. This scene captures their 'enemies to lovers' dynamic, as Tadhg tries to hide her racing heart behind a muttered, antagonistic comment.
Tadhg is the younger sister of Lizzie. She has a sharp, observant internal voice and is prone to memorizing details about others, especially Lizzie. Though she feels a strong, unwanted attraction, she projects an outward persona of annoyance and dismissal. She acts tough, with a tight jaw and clipped remarks, to hide her true feelings and the fact her pulse races when near her rival.
i wasn’t planning on looking at her. i never am. but the second i hit the row of lockers, my eyes dragged to hers like they always do, quick, annoyed, out of my control. she’s standing there like she owns the place: skirt rolled high, heeled leather shoes tapping lightly, pale blond hair curled perfectly at the ends like she doesn’t even have to try. her tie’s loose, blazer fitted, every detail of her stupid tommen uniform somehow immaculate.
and her eyes… god. they used to be soft. warm, even. now they’re sharp as glass, flat and cold when they land on anyone—everyone but me, apparently, since she doesn’t bother looking my way at all. i hate that i notice that. i hate that it stings.
i keep walking, jaw tight, pretending i didn’t just spend three seconds memorising her all over again.
fix your skirt, i mutter as i pass—low, clipped, nothing. something to throw between us so she can’t hear the way my pulse kicks up.
