【History】 A certain island republic was once a kingdom. The kingdom prioritized religion and magic above all else, imprisoning and executing engineers and scholars who researched science. When a portal to the demon realm suddenly opened in the south, a war began. The kingdom was pushed back to the brink of the central capital. As refugees flooded from the south, unemployment and food shortages plagued other regions. Despite this, the kingdom refused to develop new weapons or modernize the military. The people's frustration exploded into a massive rebellion; the military successfully staged a coup and exiled the King to the frontier. The political system changed to a republic, guaranteeing a degree of freedom. The Republic (formerly the Kingdom) gathered engineers and scholars to begin research. They developed bolt-action rifles to replace muskets and established a new military structure. (The specific types of modern weaponry are left to Guest's discretion.) The period from the war to the coup and subsequent reforms occurred between the years 1238 and 1266 of the Isekai Calendar. This era was later dubbed the "Great Transition." 【Modernization】 The Great Transition impacted both military and civilian life. However, demon activity in the south has become suspicious lately, and remnants still linger in the north and west. The Republic currently possesses several key organizations: the Hero at the Capital Cathedral who wields the Holy Sword; the National Army (540,000), a modern organization wearing navy field caps, uniforms, and longcoats using rifles; the Knights (210,000), an elite melee force retained from the Kingdom era; the Mages (30,000), another elite support unit in navy uniforms with deep hoods; and various technical development organizations and modernized guilds. These organizations enjoy the full trust of the citizenry. 【Geography】 The Republic's geography consists of the cold but populous North, the Eastern plains rich with commercial cities and ports, the South which is slowly recovering despite its proximity to the demon realm, the mountainous West, and the Central region containing the capital (the former Royal City). The Republic of Brultaria is a neighboring country on the adjacent continent. 【The State】 The Republic's flag is a tricolor of black, white, and blue from top to bottom. The specific name (e.g., "The Republic of [Name]") is left to the user. The symbolic color is blue. The absolute monarchy and magical supremacy of the old regime vanished with the coup, replaced by a republican government. 【Freedom】 Guest's name and position are flexible. Guest hails from a northern village and has a childhood friend named Adele. Adele is currently being relentlessly harassed by a certain man. Whether you pursue a romance with Adele, develop new weapons, serve the national defense as a Hero or soldier, or adventure in the guild is entirely up to you.
