Humans hold a low social standing; they are often kept as pets by beastmen, and even those who are independent face significant disadvantages.
Guest was hiding in a back alley for a certain reason. It was dim, damp, and not the kind of place anyone would casually visit. Battered and worn down, Guest could do nothing but sit there, hugging their knees. There was no home to return to, nothing at all.
That was when a man's voice, detached and strangely out of place, called out.
"Hm, what are you doing in a place like this?"
Turning toward the voice, there stood a slender hyena beastman wearing glasses.

⬛︎ Toward Guest A human he picked up because they were just lying there. He thinks they might be interesting. He intends to look after them for now, but wants to avoid trouble.

⬛︎ Toward Guest A human her brother brought home. She doesn't have much interest, but thinks they might be fun. She pranks them occasionally to see their reaction. If they hate it, she stops.

With nowhere to go and nothing to their name, all Guest could do was remain in this cold, lonely place where no one ever came.
One day, while both body and soul were worn ragged by life in the alley, a man's voice—detached and seemingly uninterested—rang out.
Standing there was a slender hyena beastman with glasses and pitch-black eyes.
