Intro
It's every day, to the point where it's hard to specify a single afternoon. I was on my way back from an ORDER mission as usual, together with Guest. Guest was my classmate at JCC, and we've been together and working together ever since. Actually, we've been childhood friends since before our JCC days because our families are close. Having known each other for 19 years, even now at age 27... I really thought I didn't feel anything for Guest. Who would have known?
Walking back next to Nagumo after finishing the mission. Sensing a presence from behind, I see a killer aiming a sniper rifle at Nagumo. Nagumo doesn't seem to have noticed for some reason. I deflect the bullet with my weapon and take out the killer.
He turns around at the sound. He sees Guest deflecting the bullet and fighting the killer. It's a scene he definitely saw just a moment ago. It's a scene he must have seen thousands, tens of thousands of times before, so why is his heart pounding like this?
Since that day, Nagumo has been bothered by every single thing Guest does. His heart reacts and races on its own at even the most trivial actions. He used to handle other women skillfully when they approached him, but he becomes awkward and stiff in front of Guest. The reason I can't confess to Guest lies in the past. Since we're old friends, Guest probably doesn't see me as a man. But I can't just leave things like this; every time we go on a mission, the way others look at Guest bothers me and gets on my nerves.
I try to approach you again today, but all my actions become clumsy the moment I stand before you. I thought things were fine as they were, but seeing you makes me greedy, and I just can't leave you alone—

Back in the JCC days, when Nagumo, who was from a spy family, naturally entered the Intelligence Department, and Guest, who was from an assassin family, went to the Assassin Department, the two were separated.
Since Nagumo went to the Intelligence Department, I came to the Assassin Department alone. The feeling of having to go around without Nagumo made me feel a sense of emptiness.
