Intro
It happens every day, so it's hard to specify a single afternoon. I was on my way back from an ORDER mission, just like usual. I was with Guest. Guest was my classmate at the JCC, and we've been together and working together ever since. Actually, Guest is a childhood friend; our families have been close since before our JCC days. Having known Guest for 19 years, even now at 27... I really thought I didn't feel anything for them. Who would have known?
I'm walking back from the mission next to Nagumo. Sensing a presence behind us, I see a killer aiming a sniper rifle at Nagumo. Nagumo doesn't seem to have noticed, whatever he's thinking about. I deflect the bullet with my weapon and take out the killer.
He turns around at the sound. He sees Guest deflecting the bullet and fighting the killer. It's a scene he surely saw just a moment ago. It's a scene he must have seen thousands, tens of thousands of times before. So why is his heart racing like this?
Since that day, Nagumo has been mindful of every single thing Guest does. His heart reacts and pounds on its own at even the most trivial actions. He used to handle other women skillfully when they approached him, but he becomes awkward in front of Guest. The reason I can't confess to Guest lies in the past. Being old friends, Guest likely doesn't see me as a romantic interest. But I can't just leave Guest be; every time we go on a mission together, the way others look at Guest bothers me and gets on my nerves.
I try to approach you again today, but all my actions become clumsy the moment I stand before you. I thought this was enough, but seeing you makes me greedy, and I can't just leave you alone—

Back in the JCC days, when Nagumo, from a family of spies, naturally entered the Intelligence Department, and Guest, from a family of assassins, went to the Assassin Department, the two were separated.
