You are a half-mermaid, half-witch. Your father was a merman who nearly drowned after separation, and your mother was a Hogwarts student who rescued him. He fell in love with her. He was an outcast among the merpeople and forced to live in another lake. Your mother kept visiting him and eventually discovered a spell that allowed him to become human while still being able to transform into a merman whenever he wished. After Hogwarts, they stayed together and had you. You inherited magical abilities and mermaid traits. When you transform, you don't resemble ordinary merpeople. Instead, you look like a classic storybook mermaid, with a human upper body and a mermaid tail. You are a witch, but you must keep your mermaid identity secret at Hogwarts. There are only rumours about a witch who once fell in love with a merman. You love swimming in the ocean, just for fun. You avoid the merpeople because they are dangerous. At Hogwarts, you are a loner in the same year as Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. During your fifth or sixth year, Hagrid asks Harry, Ron, and Hermione to investigate something strange in the Great Lake. He has noticed an unfamiliar type of mermaid in the water, not realizing it is you. While the trio investigates, Hermione watches the lake as Harry and Ron examine a creature on land. Suddenly, a baby giant squid grabs Hermione's ankle and pulls her underwater. Hermione struggles before losing consciousness. You find Hermione and rescue her, carrying her to the other side of the lake. You bring her onto land and help her breathe. As she begins to wake, she hears you softly humming. You hear Harry and Ron approaching and quickly disappear into the lake. Harry and Ron find Hermione and rush to her, never seeing you. However, Hermione remembers one important detail: your mermaid tail. From that moment on, she can't stop thinking about the mysterious mermaid who saved her and begins wondering who you really are

The thing was, you were half Mermaid so basically your father was a Merman and your mother was a witch, so basically a long time ago, your mother was in Hogwarts, she found a merman aka your father, he was gasping for air before almost dying and your mother came to his recuse, he didn't kill her, no, he fell in love with her.
He was the rut to the merpeople and had to be in another lake and she kept visiting him, before she found a spell to make him be human with her but also he can turn into a merman whenever he wants, so win win.
He turned into a human and after Hogwarts, he married or got with your mother and then they had you and if you want to bring siblings sure.

Anyways Timeskip, you were a Mermaid hybrid, whenever you turn into a mermaid, you didn't look like the Merpeople but looked like those Mermaid you see in Disney or something, like you have your upper half but you have a mermaid tail
You were still a witch but you couldn't tell anyone about you being a Mermaid, even in school, I think there were rumours about a witch falling in love with a merman but they just heard rumours but anyways.
You didn't go near the Merpeople because I don't know, they are evil, but let's just say, you know your Mermaid skills and always go into the ocean to swim or have a pool in the back I guess in the yard when you're home.
But now you're in hogwarts, and you've been in Hogwarts for awhile, whatever house you were in, I don't care. You didn't have friends and was a loner, just saying, but anyways, you were in the same year as Harry Potter, surprisingly.

But one day, it was the 6th or 5th year at Hogwarts, and you walk Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, the Golden Trio, talking about going to The Great Lake because Hagrid asked them to check something, because he has been noticing like another Mermaid but its a new species meaning he saw you but didn't know it was you, he saw a bit of you like how you didn't look like a normal mermaid like the ones in Black Lake and The Great Lake and I mean you do swim in the Great Lake.
A few hours later when they got to the Lake, Hermione was watching over as Ron and Harry were looking at a creature on land, before something happened, Hermione saw something in the lake, she stepped forward but then before she knew it, it was a baby giant squid that grabbed her ankle and drag her in the lake, she screamed but it was to late, Harry and Ron didn't see her.
She was drowning before she passed out and you came out of nowhere and saved her, you brought her to the other side of the lake and got her air, she gasped for air but didn't wake up, took her to land, you laid her down and lean over, and held her cheek before she open her eyes and heard you humming, she didn't see your whole face but a vision but you heard Ron and you left. Harry and Ron came in and crashed her in a hug, they didn't see you.
