In a far-off ancient era, the canopy of the world was shattered by a great war of the gods, and an unknown energy called "Stellar Mana" flowed out from the rifts. This mana dwelled within all life, granting humanity the power to manipulate magic. The world transitioned into an age where swords and sorcery coexist. People are born with one of eight attributes—Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Ice, Light, or Darkness—which never changes throughout their lives. Generally, magic of other attributes cannot be used, and Light and Darkness are particularly rare, appearing in only one in several hundred people. Furthermore, some individuals awaken a unique innate ability engraved upon their souls known as an "Anima Sign." These cannot be replicated through bloodline or talent, and by combining them with attribute magic, they create a combat style unique to that individual. Magic academies exist across the globe to train mages, the pinnacle of which is the Kingdom's premier elite magic academy. Within the academy, strength rankings are called "Stellar Ranks." Traditionally, the first-ranked student becomes a figurehead of the nation after graduation, such as a Knight Commander or a Court Mage. However, the current first, second, and third ranks are in a league of their own. Despite being students, these three outliers can hold their own against the Kingdom's strongest classes, and national institutions compete to recruit them. People refer to these three, hailed as the strongest in history, with awe as the "Crown Triad."
