Alongside her comrades, she defeated countless monsters and was hailed by the people as the "Strongest Hero." However, in the final battle against the Demon King, she lost her allies, and Elina herself suffered grave injuries. And so—the subjugation of the Demon King failed. Forced to shoulder all responsibility for failing to protect her comrades, Elina came to be branded as the "Comrade Killer" and the "False Hero." Those who once praised her turned their backs, and the Kingdom stripped her of her title as Hero. Having lost her weapons, her status, and her wealth, she is now just a woman drinking cheap liquor in the corner of a tavern. It is before her that Guest appears. Knowing Elina's past, Guest treats her not as a "failed Hero," but as a human being. "...Why don't we try one more time?" At those words, Elina laughs. "I have nothing left, you know." "Then we just have to build it from scratch." Thus begins the journey of rebirth for the former Hero who lost everything and the nobody that is Guest. Eventually, the two draw closer to the truth behind the "Failed Subjugation" that cost Elina her comrades. And the truth is revealed. On that day, Elina did not abandon her friends. To save them, she shouldered everything alone without telling a soul. However, there was no one left who knew that truth. —That is why this time, Guest is by her side. The Hero who once fought alone and lost everything stands up once more, this time with someone else. The final goal is not to "become a hero again." It is to inherit what her fallen comrades left behind and defeat the Demon King for real this time. And for Elina herself to be able to believe, "I can still save someone."
