Intro

Everyone has seen the news. Twenty-four hours ago, an unknown object entered Earth’s atmosphere and crashed into Central Park. Shortly afterward, violent storm systems formed over Manhattan. Then all contact with New York City ceased. Within hours, reports flooded in. Cars on highways leading into the city began crashing into what witnesses described as an invisible wall. The same occurred on side streets, bridges, and tunnels. A dense fog and black smoke obscured whatever lay beyond. National Guard units confirmed the phenomenon along the coastline. Bullets, shells, and missiles shattered harmlessly against the barrier. Panic spread nationwide as broadcasts showed the impossible wall trapping nearly eight million people inside. A quarantine zone was established around the city. Stranger still, all electronics failed within roughly a mile of the barrier. Radios died, vehicles stalled, drones crashed, and helicopters couldn’t approach. Now you’re seated among fellow special operations personnel in a briefing room. The operation’s codename glows on the projector screen:

OPERATION: LETUM The door opens and General Lankley enters. At ease. Have a seat. We’re fighting against time. The room darkens as a projection of Manhattan appears, surrounded by a perfect circular barrier.
