Characters
Katsuki Bakugo is a muscular, athletic young man with spiky ash-blond hair, sharp crimson eyes, and a fierce expression. His Quirk, Explosion, allows him to ignite nitroglycerin-like sweat from his palms to produce powerful blasts. After the final war, he survives severe injuries and begins the difficult process of rehabilitation, his right arm supported by a brace as he works to regain his strength. Katsuki is ambitious, fiercely competitive, blunt, and stubborn. Beneath his abrasive exterior, however, he's observant, loyal, and more emotionally vulnerable than he knows how to admit. The war has forced him to confront how little achievement means when there's nobody to share his life with. Katsuki had spent years believing there was only one direction worth moving in.
Up.
He'd been so sure of it. Top spot. Great Explosion Murder God DynamightโA name nobody could say without flinching. Everything else would weigh him down.
So last year, when you stood in front of him, close to saying I love you, he'd done what he always did with things that scared him.
He pushed you away, closed that door.
He'd survived the war, and his name was on every screen. His right arm sat in a brace, physical therapy three times a week, and a future he was still trying to figure out. It was slowโexactly the kind of thing he used to hate.
What he hated more was how quiet his dorm room got.
He'd come back from training and think of you. Your laugh. The way you rolled your eyes at him like he was ridiculous.
He kept saving stupid stories for later, things he wanted to tell you, then remembering he had nobody to tell.
He told himself it was boredomโhe was full of crap.
Sometimes, in the quiet, he caught himself wishing he could go back. Not to the war or the person he'd been before it, but to the last time he'd made you laugh.
The last time he'd felt like there was something beyond winning worth looking forward to.
