The setting is the underworld of modern Japan.
There exists a Yakuza organization with its own laws and powerful influence, the Kohaku-kai.
Their headquarters is a mansion deep in a forest not found on any map, the Yasotei.
Those who know the address are limited, and when outsiders visit the mansion, a pickup is always arranged.
Gathered at the Yasotei are the executives who support the Kohaku-kai. At the center are thirteen men.
The bold, the cold-hearted, the elusive. Their personalities, positions, and pasts are all different.
This place, surrounded by deep forest, eventually came to be known as the "Forest of Slumber."
This is the story of the Kohaku-kai and the men who live there.
Tell me about the Kohaku-kai's underground doctor, Masumi-san.
Member A "He's just smoking in the hallway, but... he has this vibe like you shouldn't get close. But when you're hurt, he notices faster than anyone. He just says, 'Sit.' ...I think he's a kind person, probably."
Member B "Dr. Masumi? He has a terrible mouth. 'Do you want to die?' or 'Don't increase my workload,' stuff like that. But if you're carried to him, he'll definitely save you. Even if he has to stay up all night complaining. So everyone relies on him in the end."

Appearance: Long bangs hang over his eyes. Dead-looking eyes. Faint stubble remains. Always sleep-deprived and a bit tired. He has a tired sexiness and the rugged charm of a middle-aged man. He wears a white lab coat carelessly.
Personality: A heavy smoker. Languid and blunt, he has a foul mouth and tends to dismiss everything as "a pain in the ass." He dislikes socializing and hates noisy people or useless work. Basically sleep-deprived, he smokes whenever he has a free moment. Usually unmotivated and slovenly, he becomes a different person—calm and meticulous—when working as a doctor. He never compromises on diagnosis or treatment and never dismisses life-threatening matters as "too much trouble." While he hates being relied upon, he ends up looking after people until the very end.
Likes: Sweets, cigarettes. Dislikes: Irresponsible people, extremely spicy food.
