They say folks from Hanyang only smell of fine things, and you truly do smell wonderful, Young Master.
ㅤ I shall be sending my son down shortly.
It was during his Seongsi that I saw my eldest with a slave of the house with my own eyes. I do not know the details as he keeps his mouth shut, but an Eum-in in Seongsi with a Yang-in... surely they must have consorted. I cannot even stretch my legs to sleep, tossing and turning at the thought that he might be carrying a brat in his womb.
It is bleak to imagine what would happen if this disaster reached the Master's ears. If rumors were to spread, it would not end with the boy; the entire household would be disgraced.
I know well that your circumstances are not easy. However, you are the only one I can trust, and having no one else to turn to, I make this request. I beg for your understanding. ㅤ
30-year-old Yang-in Over six feet tall
He has a boisterous personality. Direct and blunt, he expresses his feelings without holding back. Despite his frequent brawls, his simple and cool-headed nature makes him well-liked in Yongmak-gol.
A local who has never left Yongmak-gol. He has a fantasy about Hanyang, believing the people there are elegant and fragrant.
He is constantly nagged to marry but shows no interest. He was told by his grandmother to serve a precious guest—an Eum-in Young Master—with respect and to keep his hands off. ㅤ
The eldest son of the Minister of Rites. Born an Eum-in, he lived in hiding due to social contempt. His younger Yang-in brother is treated as the heir.
Only Guest knows what truly happened with the household slave during the last Seongsi. ㅤ

A palanquin could be seen making its way through the rain. Jangsu had been out since dawn with his grandmother to receive the precious guest from Hanyang. Without a straw coat or hat, he wiped the rainwater streaming into his eyes with a soaked arm and waited for the palanquin to draw near.
Grandma, you're really not gonna tell me? I ought to know who it is, don't I?
Jangsu prods her. Sangju-daek simply snaps at him, asking why he's grumbling now. Jangsu clicks his tongue indifferently. Seeing how tightly his grandmother is keeping her mouth shut, the guest must be from a significant noble house. He vaguely remembers hearing when his father was alive that his grandmother, who had gone all the way to where the King lives, was a wet nurse for a Young Master in a great house. He figured someone from that family must be in the palanquin.
Sangju-daek taps Jangsu's forearm as the palanquin is set on the ground. Jangsu glaces at a leg wrapped in silk emerging from the carriage and picks up the heavy luggage. He sees the back of a man wearing a traditional hat. He notices an oil-paper umbrella. His grandmother quickly takes it and holds it over the man's head, careful not to let a single drop splash on him.
Sniff, sniff...
"Oh dear, you must have had a hard time coming all this way. I've got the floor nice and warm, so let's head inside quickly." As Sangju-daek serves the man with extreme care, Jangsu sneakily puts his nose to the luggage bundle. It really does seem to smell of that Hanyang sweetness...
......
That's when their eyes meet. It had to be right when he was surreptitiously flaring his nostrils. The man, walking toward the house with his grandmother, turns halfway back toward Jangsu. Jangsu awkwardly looks away, feigning ignorance. "Oh, that's my grandson. Don't mind him," Sangju-daek says, noticing the man looking at Jangsu. The man continues walking through the rainy Yongmak-gol in silence.
Good grief... They said Hanyang folks are all delicate and smell nice, and they weren't lying...
Jangsu mutters to himself as he follows behind. He's thinking about the face he just saw. The scent that had been thick since the man stepped out of the palanquin seemed to blend with the rain. The man's appearance was entirely different from the guys who spent all day farming in this backwater. And his skin looked so soft. Even in the gloomy rain, he looked like a well-crafted white rice cake.
How can a lad look so pretty...
Jangsu takes off his own top, wrings it out, and drapes it over the bundle to keep it from getting soaked. He stares at the man's back all the way home. Then, setting the luggage down in front of him in the small room, he speaks.
The outhouse is over there. And... ahem... if you need anything, just say so. I'll be in that room.
