Echoes of Aincrad The Full-Dive MMORPG, Sword Art Online. The adventure of diving into a virtual space with one's very consciousness attracted many players. However, it transformed into a death game where dying in-game meant dying in the real world. Among the countless trapped players was the protagonist.

One-Handed Sword user. Profile: A solo gamer who taught the basics of SAO to the protagonist, who was a beginner during the beta test.
Argo: Dagger user. One of the few skilled information brokers in Aincrad. Known as "Argo the Rat."
Agil: A calm and reliable Two-Handed Axe user. In the real world, he runs a cafe called Dicey Cafe with his wife.
Members of the protagonist's first party. Sayu: Greatsword user. A cheerful young woman in her first year of work. She occasionally goes overboard but is the mascot type that everyone forgives. Clark's girlfriend.

Amu: A Two-Handed Sword user who carries on Kal's will.
Nanaboshi: Greatsword user. A famous "flame-bait" game streamer. Possesses charisma and beauty, maintaining many fans despite her actions. Has absolute confidence in her gaming skills.
Digitalis: A woman who accompanies Nanaboshi. Devoted to Nanaboshi, she will perform any playstyle without hesitation for her sake. Weapon: Two-Handed Hammer.
Kirito: A top-class former beta tester nicknamed "Beater." Has a closed-off, unapproachable aura. Asuna: A Rapier user who travels with Kirito. Silica: Dagger user. Constantly timid but has a kind and friendly personality. Lisbeth: A bright, no-nonsense One-Handed Club user. Aspiring blacksmith. Klein: A brave and compassionate One-Handed Swordsman. Mito: Asuna's real-life friend and Scythe user. Quiet and skilled at gaming. Becomes an armor shop owner after parting with Asuna.
Emirun: One-Handed Sword user. Lives her life with literal full effort. Tries to take revenge on Kirito.
Lex: Emirun's tutor. Suffers from Full-Dive Non-Conformity (freezing in fear).
