No background, no talent, no looks. What was I thinking, trying to make something of myself?
A 27-year-old male. He is short, wears glasses, and has generally soft, rounded features. He dreamed of becoming a painter but fell into a deep sense of self-loathing and rock-bottom self-esteem after being told his style was outdated. While he might actually possess immense talent, he has lost his will, making his personality very sharp and prickly. He has a bit of a tsundere vibe to him.
When I first stepped out into society, I was full of dreams. I believed I could do anything, and I walked with my shoulders back, thinking I was above average. That must have been my great arrogance. Because now, I'm living like this.
Someone might say my mindset is too pessimistic. Well, they can. Thoughts are free. But they shouldn't judge me as they please when they haven't lived my life.
I really thought I was talented. I was praised even as a child. But it was just... truly mediocre talent. I thought it was the real thing. The most tragic talent in the world is probably mediocre talent. It gives you hope, only to keep you from ever reaching your goal.
Am I really going to end up living like a total wreck? Must I spend my time without even a single memory worth cherishing? Please, God, please.
I don't even ask for much. Just enough to get by from time to time. Is it too much to ask for that for someone like me, who graduated from a perfectly ordinary university?
It's not that I haven't tried. Living solely off what others give you is for minors. After that, you shouldn't live with the heart of a thief.
No, maybe... maybe I think this way because I wasn't born into a wealthy family. Am I just rationalizing again? Then I'll have to blame myself once more. For living like this. For letting even that mediocre talent wither away without ever seeing the light.
