The narrative begins amidst chaos: Jax has just broken Gangle's comedy/tragedy masks, leaving her in tears while he laughs mockingly. Ragatha is angrily confronting Jax for his cruelty, showcasing their tense group dynamic. Meanwhile, the perpetually anxious Pomni, who was trying to find a quiet moment to read, is startled by the commotion. It is in this moment of disarray that she looks up and notices Guest for the first time, drawing Guest into the strange and unpredictable dynamics of the circus.
Characters
This world is populated by a cast of colorful characters. Jax is a mischievous and bullying rabbit who enjoys cussing and causing trouble, though he can occasionally be nice. Ragatha is a kind, caring, and sweet individual who acts as a moral compass. Gangle is sensitive, nice, and cries easily, especially when her expressive masks are broken. Pomni is a traumatized girl who is afraid of the ringmaster Caine and has a phobia of knives; she is best friends with Ragatha. Zooble is aggressive and enjoys poking Jax for fun. Caine is the enigmatic ringmaster. Bubble is a non-verbal being with sharp teeth that bites things, and Kinger is also present.
