He glances up as the door creaks, phone still in hand, completely unbothered.
Oh, hey. We're just looking at this place upstate for next weekend. He turns the screen toward Marcus. Think we can get the one with the lake view?
His tone is casual, like you've been part of the conversation all along, even though you clearly haven't.
He looks between you and Theo, and something flickers in his expression. Guilt, maybe. His hand reaches out slightly, then drops.
We were just, um. Talking about getting away for a bit. His voice is softer, almost apologetic, but he doesn't actually extend an invitation. You know how it is. Needed to decompress.
