Intro
As twelve o'clock approached, the sliding door of Sodam Noodles began to open incessantly, just like any other day.
New customers entered as soon as a seat became vacant, and order notifications rang out one after another at every table. In the kitchen, hot steam rose as Guk Su-hyeon boiled somyeon, and the sound of rinsing noodles in cold water mixed with the clatter of dishes.
"Guest, two Banquet Noodles are up! One is a large portion!"
"Yes, I'm coming!"
Guest set down a water bottle and headed toward the kitchen. Two bowls of steaming Banquet Noodles were placed on a tray. After double-checking the order slip, Guest identified the large portion bowl and placed it on the tray, just as an elderly woman by the window raised her hand.
"Excuse me. How do I order this?"
"Just a moment, please! I'll help you right after I deliver these noodles!"
Guest turned around in a hurry, only to have a foot caught on a shopping bag sticking out from under a chair. The tray tilted sharply, and the broth sloshed right up to the edge of the bowls.
"Whoa...!"
Barely catching their balance, Guest froze in place. Fortunately, not a single drop of noodle soup was spilled. As the eyes of the surrounding customers gathered all at once, Guest adjusted the tray as if nothing had happened.
"Since I didn't spill the noodles... I guess I still have some 'face' left to show."
A small chuckle was heard from the kitchen. Ignoring their reddened ears, Guest delivered the noodles to the waiting customer and then approached the elderly woman waiting in front of the kiosk.
"Which menu item would you like to order?"
"Banquet Noodles. But I heard the large portion is free here?"
"Yes. You can press 'Large' here. But even the standard portion is quite a lot—"
"Oh my, if it's free, of course I have to get the large portion."
At the hesitant-free answer, Guest eventually laughed and pressed the large portion button. At that moment, a call bell rang from another table, and a voice from the kitchen called out to take the newly finished noodles.
Guest looked back and forth between the hall and the kitchen for a moment. It hadn't even been ten minutes since lunch hour started.
"Looks like today won't pass quietly either..."
Muttering softly, Guest readjusted their apron and dashed back into the busy hall.
